TENNESSEE ELEGY Under a black And starry sky Make my peace And say goodbye Dig the grave and watch it die Bury this in my mind Within a stream of Consciousness Cold is so intense My fingers freeze But my language vents The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships Once sacred Now irreverent The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships I’m unable to Mend my fences On top of white And snowy ground Lose myself in the sound My sorrows I drown Listen to the wind howl The darkness I feel Winters chill in my bones My heart will ache But my words hit home The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships Once sacred Now irreverent The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships I’m unable to Mend my fences This is an elegy A funeral for your sins This is a eulogy This is your requiem I turn and walk away I’m growing colder By the day I turn and walk away The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships Once sacred Now irreverent The unintended Consequences Of complicated friendships I’m unable to Mend my fences This is an elegy A funeral for your sins This is a eulogy This is your requiem

Vultures 04:09
VULTURES It’s all about the basking In the perfect calm The storm is finally passing You can’t admit you’re wrong We all have our silent Unspeakable memories That we do not choose to share But with a few Today’s inspiration Comes from you I feel the discontent But it’s about to end Open up a vein and bleed This mourning of a friend It’s all about the basking In the perfect calm The storm is finally passing You can’t admit you’re wrong Digital girl With an analogue heart Vultures are waiting To tear us apart Times like this I remember when It’s easier to forgive An enemy than a friend I feel the disconnect They’ll be no going back The art is obvious The silence is a stab It’s all about the basking In the perfect calm The storm is finally passing You can’t admit you’re wrong Digital girl With an analogue heart Vultures are waiting To tear us apart Times like this I remember when It’s easier to forgive An enemy than a friend The line is thin and red Between the love and hate The Sky is far and wide To London from LA Where there’s a carcass There’s a vulture Picking bones Of flesh and minds The devils drawing In the details Where friendships go to die It’s all about the basking In the perfect calm The storm is finally passing You can’t admit you’re wrong Digital girl With an analogue heart Vultures are waiting To tear us apart Times like this I remember when It’s easier to forgive An enemy than a friend Where there’s an artist There’s a vulture In the picture Is the proof Art of illusion is ironic The art of friendship Is the truth Your pretty picture’s lie Your pretty pictures hide Nobody knows The real vulture Who lives deep Inside of you

THE SOULLESS BEAST The soulless beast He came to feast Upon our hearts with sin He took the form of many men And called himself a friend His charming words They lead us to believe And follow him We couldn’t see his teeth But we could feel his grin The abomination That causes desolations The abomination That causes desolations The soulless beast Appeared so confident To gain our trust Born of a jackal But disguised himself as one of us He changed his face and shape When we would start to realize He was as evil As the book of Daniel prophesied The abomination That causes desolations The abomination That causes desolations This is our seven daggers of Megiddo This is our Holy Sacrament This is our sacrificial lamb Our moment to repent No more trials and tribulation Revenge is fueled by Nazarene Tonight’s the night We pay our penance This is our slaying of the beast Faith Means not wanting to know what’s true Faith Is a knowledge in the heart beyond the reach of proof The abomination That causes desolations The abomination That causes desolations

"Husband and wife sludge metallers turn in their most personal work yet. One of the most vital and impassioned albums released all year."

- Paul Travers | Kerrang!
--------------------------------------
"My Ruin dish up a raw and revitalizing antidote to the insincere posturing so prevalent in more commercially motivated areas of heavy music. This is the real deal from start to finish."

- Dom Lawson | Metal Hammer U.K.
--------------------------------------
"My Ruin have done the unthinkable… made the perfect album and then gave it away for free…a sign of a truly fan friendly band!"

- Luke Hayhurst | Destructive Music
--------------------------------------
"The album is like a tapestry of gorgeous black noise. the wonderful guitar work from Mick is outstanding and Tairrie's voice is better than ever."

- Katie Doherty | Black Sunday Magazine
--------------------------------------
"What you are smelling is my ass getting smoked by My Ruin’s seventh studio release, A Southern Revelation. Holy fucking shit!"

- Keith Anderson | The New Interview
--------------------------------------
"Recorded in the Tennessee backwaters this album is an absolute beast. Fuck the vacuous shit that clutters record shop shelves with major label on the outside and utter shit on the inside, go get some real fucking music."

- Darrel Sutton | Uber Rock
--------------------------------------
"My Ruin's finest hour of recorded music. A Southern Revelation is a lethal combination of art, revenge, and catharsis. Whether it be from the considerable inspiration that played a part in the creation of this record or just the natural evolution of a determined band, A Southern Revelation is simply stellar. It's tough to imagine My Ruin sounding any better than this."

- Morley Seaver | Anti Music
--------------------------------------
"A Southern Revelation’ is MY RUIN’S seventh full length studio album – celebrating their staying power and their fiercely independent DIY ethic, together with their formidable strength, determination and dedication. A distinctive and truly imposing album from one of the best rock & roll metal bands of all time."

- Neil Mach | Raw Ramp
--------------------------------------
"A bloodletting rather than an exorcism.Tairrie's voices are the razor-tipped hand to guitarist/husband Mick Murphy's iron glove, who carries her attack on a platform of trademark Black Sabbath-meets-Black Label Society shred."

- Carl Begai | Brave Words
--------------------------------------
"The moral of this album’s story - do NOT piss off Tairrie B. Definitely a sign that triumph can come out of adversity if you’re smart enough to focus your anger where it does the most damage – in your music."

- Andy Close | Pure Rawk
-------------------------------------
"Considered to be one of rock’s most successful couples, My Ruin’s Tairrie B and Mick Murphy are back with their seventh studio album ‘A Southern Revelation’. This download only album consists of some of the band’s most impressive and emotional offerings yet. The album opens with ‘Tennessee Elegy’ a requiem of explosive passion, rage and contagious guitar riffs. Tairrie’s vocals dominate, carrying messages of challenging friendships and sin – she’s been there, and done that. Then follows ‘Highly Explosive’; a track that would be at home at an AC/DC or Metallica concert. Demonstrating My Ruin’s eclectic moulding of old and new school rock ‘n’ roll, this song is hard to sit through without a few cheeky head bangs. The third tune is one of the most captivating. ‘Walk Of Shame’ discusses the celebrity wannabes gracing the streets of Los Angeles. Echoing the classic My Ruin sound, this song is a possible concert favourite consisting of funky riffs, catchy lyrics and venomous attitude. This element of attitude and drive is turned up to 11 with ‘Deconsecrated’. Melding Tairrie’s very impressive vocals with Mick’s chugging guitar and bass, this song gets in everybody’s face and makes you pay attention. This is followed by ‘Middle Finger’; a song that, you can probably tell, is rather blunt. Vocals that combine lyrical reading and screaming; the song expresses the anger felt by everyone from time to time. As if picking on the remains of your eardrums after ‘Middle Finger’, ‘Vultures’ allows some time for the listener to rest. Tairrie’s sultry voice develops from whispering to usual weighty vocals, coupled with guitar that lulls you into a sense of calm; as the lyrics say, “The storm is finally passing”, then the song evolves, picking up pace leading you straight into ‘Seventh Sacrament’, This is a song about reflection. Not only does it demonstrate Tairrie and Mick’s emotional ties to the past, but allows the band to show off the skills that have brought them this far. ‘Reckoning’ meanwhile, is a powerful anthem echoing past My Ruin tracks such as ‘Religiosity’. A strong combination of social and political commentary and mind-melting musical action; this track allows for reflection on society and an appreciation of the power of pure rock ‘n’ roll. This is followed by ‘The Soulless Beast’ and it combines everything that My Ruin stands for; symbolic lyrics, prevailing musical ability and the odd scream or two. ‘Mean Street’ starts in a rather surprising way, like Dragonforce after a good old dose of Tennessee whiskey. But after leaving you wondering if you’ve drifted off in to a Guitar Hero-style battle, you’re brought back to reality with Mick’s usual punch of southern swagger. This one is the most infectious track on the album, a closing track that leaves you wanting more. ‘A Southern Revelation’ takes you on a rollercoaster of solid rock and raw metal sounds. Uniting everything that has allowed My Ruin to progress, it truly demonstrates the band’s full potential. The “download only” aspect shows that Tairrie and Mick are not frightened by the modern musical landscape; the album sales and chart positions. Simply put, they merely wish to create influential music that moves the hearts and minds rather than the money.

-------------------------------------
" 'My middle finger is all you get from me...' – yeah, that sounds a lot like Tairrie B. and My Ruin, who are releasing their seventh album with 'A Southern Revelation'. After an argument, a subsequent separation from her label and the resulting tour cancellation for 'Ghosts And Good Stories', Tairrie (vocals) and her husband Mick Murphy (guitar, bass, drums) channeled their anger and made the best possible thing out of it - a new record , which, however, is more than just a bitter finger in the direction of business. To me, “A Southern Revelation” sounds a bit more aggressive and beastly than its great predecessor – like a cat jumping into your face with its claws extended. On the one hand, this is due to the production, which is a bit crisper or 'garagish'. On the other hand, the songs contain fewer experiments than 'Ghosts And Good Stories', where polyphonic singing, longer spoken word or doomy, atmospheric passages stood out. Today there is a little more rock'n'roll, more thrash punk. Attitude as a Southern Metal band, everything gets to the point a little quicker. But the band's trademarks are still firmly in the foreground: broadly played southern rock riffs and outstanding guitar solos in every song, as well as a Tairrie B. who swears, speaks and screams in her usual class. Standout songs? I love the bouncy beat and lick-me vibe of 'Walk Of Shame' and the dope guitar run of 'Seventh Sacrament'. Also great are the Black Sabbath reminiscences in 'The Soulless Beast”', in which Tairrie demonstrates her impressive vocal range, as well as the Rollins Band character of 'Vultures'. And the Van Halen cover 'Mean Street' makes me want to dance and I even think I can see a hint of hairspray wafting out of the speakers... very bold. I wish My Ruin that 'A Southern Revelation' gets the attention that this great album deserves."

- Burn Your Ears | Germany
--------------------------------------
"The sound is so damn heavy that the howl and clammier of the rhythm section elevates it beyond the mud of Skynyrd and the sludge of Sabbath, giving it a plateau of its own. My Ruin are pioneers of their art and always pushing the boundaries of Metal and Heavy Rock."

- Jonathan Taylor | An Armchair Critic
---------------------------------------
he thing that I have always loved about Tairrie B.Murphy and her previous bands, whether it is Manhole, Tura Satana or her current outfit My Ruin, is that she sings it like she means it. There is no bullshit poser posturing, this is who she is and the same more than holds true on the latest release from My Ruin called 'A Southern Revelation' which will be available on their official site as a free download. You can’t beat that. I have always loved Tairrie B. as a lyricist and on 'ASR' there is no shortage of subject matter in which to direct her venom, and the thing is, this is a lot of stuff people can relate to. 'ASR' is in a word relentless; it doesn’t let up for a second and continues to pound at the senses. From the opener of 'Tennessee Elegy' into the aptly titled “Highly Explosive”, it is full speed ahead. 'Highly Explosive' in particular is my absolute favorite song along with the oh, so subtle 'Middle Finger'. The contributions of Mick Murphy are big. His riffs are huge as he goes from Pantera style groove-laden riffs to a more doomy style. Other highlights include: 'Walk of Shame', the intense 'Deconsecrated', 'Vultures', 'Seventh Sacrament' and 'Soulless Beast'. The album is completed by a blistering cover of the Van Halen classic 'Mean Street' which fits right in with the rest of the intense material within. My Ruin manages to add their own twist to the track, whilst still managing to stay faithful to the original – not an easy thing to do. As great as 'Ghost & Good Stories' was, My Ruin has at least equaled – if not surpassed it with 'A Southern Revelation'. 'ASR' is Tairrie B. at her angriest, confrontational, in your face best. Everything she sings is from the heart and there is absolutely no holding back, she only knows one direction and that is full-speed, straight ahead. That attitude has come to describe My Ruin perfectly, and I hope it continues for a long time to come."
